In the study, "Primitive agriculture in a social amoeba", in the current Nature journal, a team led by evolutionary ecologist Debra Brock of Rice University in Houston reports that, "the social amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum has a primitive farming symbiosis that includes dispersal and prudent harvesting of the crop."
