Making good decisions: how humans and other animals deal with an uncertain world

Public Scientific Meeting, Zoological Society of London, 9th February 2010 from 6pm

Dear friends, colleagues, and people who I thought would find this interesting –

For those of you who will be in the UK in February, I am organising a free evening of public talks at ZSL in London. There will be three speakers –

Alex Kacelnik (http://users.ox.ac.uk/~kgroup/people/alexkacelnik.shtml),

Peter Ayton (http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/~sj361/ )

Jeffery Stevens ( http://www-abc.mpib-berlin.mpg.de/users/jstevens/)

The theme of the meeting will be how humans and other animals with limited time and resources make decisions. The event will have a strong comparative theme, and will take an evolutionary perspective, with discussions of decision-making in species from starlings and pigeons to chimpanzees and people.

After what promises to be a fantastic series of talks, I will chair questions from the audience, and we will then have an informal discussion over a three course dinner. The talks are free to attend, and dinner places cost £34 per person (including wine!) and should be made before 5pm on Wednesday 6 January.

If you would like to book a place for the dinner please see http://www.zsl.org/science/scientific-meetings/ or contact Joy Hayward (Scientific Meetings Coordinator, Zoological Society of London) E-mail: joy.hayward@zsl.org.

Please let your colleagues and students know about this event, and I hope to see you there!

Happy New Year and best wishes, Andrew.
